NHS Lanarkshire chair Neena Mahal and chief executive Ian Ross joined project partners on each of the three sites to commemorate the start of the work.
Neena said: “I hope patients and the local communities are as excited by the start of work on these centres as we are.
“We expect all three to be open by the summer of 2015 and we’re sure patients and staff will appreciate and enjoy the new health surroundings.”

Work gets underway at the new Kilsyth Health Centre
Ian Ross said: “Over the last five years NHS Lanarkshire has built new health facilities in Airdrie, Carluke, Hamilton, Bellshill and Coatbridge and these three new centres are further evidence of our commitment to providing the best community health facilities possible for the people of Lanarkshire.”
He added: “A lot of hard work has been undertaken by all involved to get these projects off the drawing board and make them a reality and I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed for their effort and commitment in helping us to reach this stage.”
NHS Lanarkshire is undertaking the work in partnership with the Scottish Government’s Health Directorate’s (SGHD) Capital Investment Group, the Scottish Futures Trust, Hubco South West and Graham Construction who will build all three centres.
North Lanarkshire Council is also a partner in the £23 million Wishaw Health Centre project as the centre will also host a new town library and one stop shop. The new Hunter Health Centre will cost £19.6 million while Kilsyth Health Centre will cost almost £7.8 million.
