John McClelland CBE
John McClelland CBE was appointed as Chairman of hub South West in February 2013. Over the years John has held senior board positions with various international companies including IBM, 3Com and Philips. He has gained extensive experience of procurement and supply-chain operations. Consequently, on behalf of the Scottish Government in 2006, John conducted a review of public sector procurement which led to the publication of the McClelland Report which has revolutionised procurement across Scotland. He is a member of Scottish Government committees and boards and is Chairman of the Scottish Funding Council for Further and Higher Education. He is also Chairman of Skills Development Scotland Ltd, NQC Ltd and Vicast Ltd.
John is currently hub Investment Director for Scottish Futures Trust (SFT). Since joining SFT in 2010 John has previously undertaken a number of key roles prior to currently managing SFT's investments in the hub programme. John has managed the hub programme as National Programme Director, helped to deliver the first phase of the National Housing Trust initiative, commenced the development of the surplus asset disposal programme with the NHS and managed the Schools for Future Investment Programme. John is a Chartered Accountant and has over 25 years' experience across both public and private sectors. This has been gained in property, construction. PFI/PPP and automotive sectors as well as the NHS.
Derek Lindsay is Executive Director of Finance and has held that post for 16 years, initially in Dumfries and Galloway and for the last 13 years in Ayrshire and Arran. He is a chartered accountant with around 20 year's experience of working in the health service. He has also worked as an accountant in professional practice and in industry. He chairs the Scottish NHS Pensions Group as well as a national group taking forward shared financial services. Derek is involved in church organisations including Gideons International and is a director of Broken Chains (Ayr) Ltd. which is a charity which helps the homeless and people with drink or drug addiction.
Nick was appointed to the Board in October 2012. Nick is a founding Director and Chief Operating Officer of Equitix having previously been a Development Director at Skanska Infrastructure Development.
Nick has over 15 years experience of public private partnerships including working on University of Essex, West Yorkshire Police PFI, Derbyshire and Cambridgeshire BSF, Sheffield Highways and Bart’s and the Royal London Hospital PFI.
Gavin joined Equitix in September 2012 with a background in corporate banking and investment. He has over 25 years of experience in the financial service industry - 15 years of them in the PPP/PFI sector. Gavin is responsible for the management of investments made by Equitix in UK infrastructure projects. He currently sits on over 20 project boards including Hub North.
Gavin has experience across a number of sectors including healthcare, education, housing and transport.
He is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers in Scotland (ACIBS).
Michael joined hub South West in March 2013. As the Chief Executive and board Director, Michael has overall responsibility for all hub South West's business and construction activities. Previously Executive Director of Operations with Hochtief PPP Solutions UK he has a strong track record in the delivery of construction projects and the ongoing operational management of facilities management services during the concession period.
